The History of England in the Middle Ages
C.L.I.L. Module is focused to integrate:
- historical contents (about some of the most important events of the Middle Ages in England, from the Norman Conquest to the Wars of the Roses)
- and language skills (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing in English)
English, which is studied by the students as a second language, is used to learn as well to communicate.
Both the English and the History teachers will hold their lessons together.
The module consists of 5 working units, dealing generally with a specific historical event and the main historical character who played a relevant role in the event itself. In particular, the contents proposed refer to:
- The battle of Hastings (1066) and William the Conqueror;
- The Magna Charta (1215) and King John I;
- Film Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves (1991)
- The Wars of Roses (1455-1459) and King Henry VII
- Lifestyle in England in The Middle Ages.
In each unit which is supposed to last 2 hours, students will work in group and/or in pairs, analyse the texts, look for specific information on the internet, interact, discuss, write short reports or a review of the film.
